Is Craniosacral Therapy the same as Cranial Manipulation?
You might think the two therapies are similar, but no they are not the same. Craniosacral therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that uses light pressure to palpate and enhance the craniosacral rhythm. The craniosacral rhythm is a natural ebb and flow of the cerebral spinal fluid pulsing through the ventricles of the brain to its end point in the mid-sacrum. A craniosacral therapist will determine where these blockages are and gently release them. In my practice, I use a combination of craniosacral therapy and cranial manipulation. Cranial manipulation is an osteopathic technique that uses gentle to moderate pressure to release cranial bone restrictions. This allows the release of the dural membranes for cerebral spinal fluid to flow properly and toxins to drain from the brain. Both methods help to restore cerebral spinal flow reducing pain, improving mobility, increasing immune system function, and releasing stored emotions. When someone is trying to improve lymphatic fluid flow through their body, it is important to understand that the body’s lymphatic system is intricately connected to the brain's lymphatic system also known as the glymphatic system. It is imperative that the lymphatic pathways are open and the pathways from the brain are draining to be able to be successful during a detox program.
